Club Awards
Finding Inspiration in Every Dive and in Every Deed.
Recognising achievement and commitment to the club is a great way to encourage and thank those individuals for all of their efforts, whether it be for the betterment of the club or the sport as a whole.
Our Club Members' Awards are made up of an eclectic mix of traditional trophy, diver-centric and shipwreck themed models that have been custom produced by either 'Models for Divers' or specifically 3D printed. Each has then been mounted on a wooden plinth with the award title engraved on a brass plaque and each year's winner then has their name and year of award added to the plinth on an individual brass plate.
The Awards Available Each Year Are...
Chairman's Award
This award goes to the club member that the Chairman feels has stood out the most within the club over the last 12 months. The award is entirely at the Chairman's discretion and there is no strict criteria for the award. It simply goes to the club member that the Chairman feels is most deserving.
Diving Officer's Award
This award goes to the club member that the Diving Officer feels has made the greatest progress in their diving, whether that be as a result of training or gaining a body of experience that has resulted in notable improvements in their skills as a diver.
Diver of the Year
This award is arguably our top award and goes to the club member that the Committee as a whole feels has achieved the most over the preceding year. It is presented to the diver that has stood out the most over the year!
Most Active Club Member
This award is given to the club member that the committee feels has contributed the most to the club and its activities over the last 12 months. This award is not necessarily 'dive-focused' as the award could just as easily be given to a non-diving club member who has gone above and beyond any others in helping run the club.
Most Active Diver
This award simply goes to the club member who has completed the highest number of dives in a calendar year. Unlike all of the other awards, this award is based on a calendar year from the 1st of January, in order that it may be presented at the end of the year during our Christmas party.
Members' Award
This award is given to the club member that receives the most nominations from their fellow club members. The award is for the person that the wider membership fees has played a role in making their enjoyment of the club all the more rewarding. This could be anything from and enthusiastic buddy to a potential life-saving incident.
